Finishing Touches

Side art is completely removed

Well, at this point I was ready to apply the new side art. What I found out was that the new side art was slightly (about an inch all around) smaller than the cabinet. I thought it would look the best if I painted the cabinet a glossy black.

Sorry about the darkness of this picture.

This isn't the greatest picture, but then again the cabinet is now painted black. I then carefully applying the new side art. I had never done this before, and I was a little bit nervous. It's hard to come across DL2 side art!

What worked the best for me was to have my wife help me apply the image. She gently set the art down while I pressed out the bubbles. Worked out very well.

Here it is. Finally.

After putting on the side art, I replaced the T molding that I had removed earlier. A very inexpensive way to make a game look newer.

Ta-da: the final product. I would rank this as a 9 out of 10. There are very minor imperfections in the side art that would keep this from being truely mint. BUT, considering that this game spent eight years in an arcade, it is in great shape now.
