Finding Parts

Dragon's Lair II laser disc

Dragon's Lair II marquee

Part of the original deal that I got included the Space Ace '91 machine, the original DL2 board, and the original DL2 disc. Unfortunately when I went to pick up the game, the operator couldn't find the DL2 disc. That meant that I needed:

  • DL2 disc
  • DL2 marquee
  • DL2 side art (if possible)

The side art would be necessary if I wanted to restore my game to "A" condition. At the same time, I knew that this would be the most difficult item to find.

The disc, as I suspected, was the easiest to find. There is almost always one for sale on eBay. I waited until I saw a really good price, and then I picked one up.

The next thing that I came across was the marquee. I first found a willing seller on rec.games.video.arcade.collecting, however that deal fell through. I then found one being auctioned on (surprise, surprise), eBay. This turned out to be a bit cheaper than I expected. Lucky me.

In the meantime, I always kept my eyes out for some good side art. Eventually, there was an auction on eBay. Although people frequently over pay on eBay, it is the place to go if you are looking for a rare part. I knew this would end up being expensive. It was. But, I was the winning bid on NOS (new old stock) side art for my machine.
